Schools, visitors and the community
FINS runs school presentations, community outreach and visitor education in southern Belize. Most of it happens where the work happens: on the dock, in the shop on the Placencia Sidewalk, and on the water.
Camp OAR
Camp OAR is our youth marine conservation program: an overnight camp combining snorkelling, turtle biology, lionfish dissection, team building and a look at careers in conservation. A pilot ran in autumn 2024 with 13 students and 2 chaperones from a public school in Belmopan, held in the Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve.
The program is being formalised now. Future camps at Nicholas Caye will take a maximum of 8 students at a time.
